Jakub Hromada Departs Slavia Prague: A Shift in the Slovak Football Landscape

Young Defensive Midfielder, aged twenty-seven, sets sights on Romanian outfit Rapid Bucharest, according to insiders within the Czech football market. The move is purportedly a permanent transfer.

While he was also linked with Slovan Bratislava, talks fell through due to the controversy surrounding a friendly match between the Slovak club and Dynamo Moscow. “Slovan had a keen interest in Hromada, and the player himself was open to the transfer. However, negotiations reached an unsuccessful conclusion due to the incident,” a source revealed.

These developments echo the sentiments expressed by Jaroslav Tvrdik, the head of the Czech club, who stated a week ago: “What will the relationship be like with Slovan now? There won’t be any.” This shift in the football landscape underscores the intricate nature of player transfers and the ripple effects of sporting controversies.

Reflecting on Hromada’s Legacy: A Tribute to Resilience and Team Spirit

In a brief yet poignant statement to, Tvrdik bids farewell to Hromada, painting a vivid portrait of a resilient warrior essential to any team during arduous matches. “Kubo epitomizes the spirit of perseverance, one of my personal favorites. Modest in victory or defeat, his presence uplifted teammates, embodying the essence of our club’s illustrious journey. Slavia will forever be his home,” Tvrdik fondly reminisces.

Hromada’s international tenure spans five matches, including notable appearances in EURO 2020 (held in 2021 due to the pandemic), where he valiantly contested against Poland and featured prominently in the first half against Spain. Stepping in for Stanislav Lobotka, Hromada filled the gap left by Lobotka’s fitness setbacks, owing to limited playtime with Napoli at the time.

Under the stewardship of coach Stefan Tarkovic, Hromada earned all his national team starts, culminating in his last appearance in November 2021. However, his presence in Francesco Calzona’s recent selections has been relegated to the substitutes’ bench, reflecting a changing dynamic in team composition and strategy.

At the tender age of 16, the promising talent from Kosice embarked on a remarkable journey from Michalovce to Juventus, already heralded as one of Slovakia’s brightest football prospects. He emerged as a leader within the junior ranks of the Turin giant, assuming the captain’s armband for various national youth teams.

Venturing beyond Juventus, he left his mark in Genoa and Sampdoria, yet the pinnacle of senior football in Italy remained elusive, hampered by recurrent injuries. His tenure extends beyond the Italian borders, with stints at Slavia, Senica, Plzen, and Liberec, each chapter contributing to his rich experiences.
